TAFIRI has the mandate of promoting, initiating, conducting and co-coordinating fisheries research as well as dissemination of fisheries information to government agencies, public institutions and private companies engaged in the fishing industry. TAFIRI also provides expert scientific and technical advice to Government on marine and freshwater fisheries, aquaculture and the protection of the aquatic environment.
